Raymond F. McCaskey & Mary Gonzalez-Koenig honored at 2005 Don Quixote Dinner
On June 8th, the El Valor family paid tribute to two distinguished Chicago leaders who exemplify the spirit of El Valor - Raymond H. McCaskey and Mary Gonzalez-Koenig. The dinner and award presentation publicly recognized the contributions that these two very special individuals have made to enrich the lives of children, youth, people with special needs and the entire community.
Raymond H. McCaskey, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, was presented with the Corporate Visionary Award. Mr. McCaskey exemplifies corporate leadership with a conscience. He has worked tirelessly to strengthen the quality of life for families in our community, state, and nation by advocating for access to the very best in healthcare. Mr. McCaskey is a longstanding and key supporter of El Valor.
Mary Gonzalez-Koenig, Chief Executive Officer of Spanish Coalition for Jobs, was presented with the Guadalupe Reyes Founder's Award. Ms. Koenig exemplifies the spirit of our founder, Mrs. Reyes - firmly
grounded in the community and able to negotiate and work with CEO's and media leaders throughout the country. Ms. Koenig is a voice for people outside the system, and is an inspiration to us all.
The Don Quixote Dinner, El Valor's most important fundraiser, was chaired by Guy Gorney, President of Midwest Generation. His speech inspired and moved everyone present. El Valor thanks all of our corporate and private sponsors who joined with us in assuring that this fundraising event was one of our most successful.
