PROGRAM PURPOSE: The El Valor/National-Louis University (NLU) community-based Master of Business Administration (MBA) program was created to increase the pool of managerial talent from historically underrepresented populations in American society available to address the needs of public and private sector organizations. This partnership brings together El Valor, a non-profit community organization committed to the promotion of inclusiveness through educational opportunity and the internationally accredited NLU Master of Business Administration program.

REQUIREMENTS: The NLU community-based MBA program at El Valor is intended for individuals with proven academic ability, strong managerial potential, and a professional mission that is consistent with the program purpose. Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or an equivalent degree from a recognized non-U.S. university, and to apply and meet all admission requirements of the NLU MBA program. Prospective students will be evaluated in terms of academic credentials (including a writing assessment), work experience, organizational/ community involvement, presentation of individual qualifications, and letters of reference. Those accepted into the program are expected to participate as a cohort and attend all courses together until completion.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE, SCHEDULING, AND LOCATION: The program consists of 13 courses (37 semester hours) of instruction. Each class session is four hours. Classes will meet one day a week for four hours. With National-Louis University's cohort program you'll register only once at the start of your program, obtain a fixed tuition rate, and know your entire class schedule upfront. You'll go through the program with the same diverse group of 12-16 students in a supportive learning environment and a rich network of peer professionals.

COST: The normal tuition for the MBA degree program per credit hour is $580 which covers all tuition, textbooks, and other course materials. By participating in this community based cohort, you may be eligible to receive the NLU/El Valor Next Generation Leadership Development Scholarship in the amount equivalent to 25% off the tuition rate. For the balance, you may select from multiple payment plans. Financial aid is available to students who are eligible for Federal Loan Programs.

ABOUT EL VALOR: El Valor is a non-profit community-based organization founded in 1973 by the late Guadalupe Reyes. El Valor is committed to creating opportunities for individuals and families to achieve personal and educational excellence. Through partnership with universities, individuals are able to invest in themselves and pursue their dreams by taking classes on weekends and/or during the evenings.

THE NLU COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS: NLU is the third oldest private university in Chicago, established in 1886. Today, National-Louis University is changing the way adults learn by understanding its students' needs and meeting those needs. NLU's success in providing exceptional educational programs while maintaining sensitivity and flexibility to extracurricular forces has made the University very attractive to not only students, but also to corporations, government agencies, school districts, and other organizations. National-Louis University has always served the principle that education must be responsive and accessible to all students, including adults who juggle career and family demands while pursuing studies.
